Flu Shots - Immunization and other Vaccinations

Our focus on bringing good Health & Wellness practices to corporate employees includes flu shots, work related immunizations and vaccinations. Health Fairs Direct recommends prior to your health fair, that you suggest to your employees that they review their medical records to ensure their vaccinations are current. There are three (3) critical immunizations corporate employees need to be vaccinated for:
  1. Tetanus Immunization: Tetanus is an acute, often fatal, disease that is caused by the poison of a certain bacteria. The bacteria usually enter the body through a small cut or other open wound. Stiff muscles and convulsive spasms are characteristic. The stiffness often begins in the jaw (lockjaw) and neck.
  2. Hepatitis B Immunization: Hepatitis B is a serious disease that can cause short-term illness with symptoms of tiredness, loss of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting, jaundice (yellow skin or eyes), and pain in muscles, joints and the stomach. It can also cause long-term illness leading to liver damage (cirrhosis), liver cancer, and death.
  3. Flu Shots - Influenza Vaccination (also called Flu Shot): “Flu” is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness and, for some at risk, can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting an annual flu vaccination in the fall.

    Flu Shot Availability varies every year as flu vaccination manufacturing has too many variables to accurately predict supply. Every year Health Fairs Direct orders flu shots in anticipation of flu vaccine supply issues for all of our flu clinics. Health Fairs Direct understands the pressure flu shot coordinators receive from their employees and does everything it can to run each flu clinic smoothly and on schedule.

    Health Fairs Direct offers online employee registration for every corporate flu clinic we run to help eliminate scheduling problems from each flu shot clinic.

    Every year in the United States, on average:

    1. 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu;
    2. More than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and;
    3. About 36,000 people die from the flu.
  4. Pneumococcal disease kills more people in the United Stated each year than all other vaccine-preventable diseases combined. Pneumococcal disease can lead to serious infections of the lungs (pneumonia), the blood (bacteremia), and the covering of the brain (meningitis).

    Anyone can get the disease, however some people are at greater risk. These include people 65 and older, the very young, and people with special health problems such as alcoholism, heart or lung disease, kidney failure, diabetes, HIV infection, or certain types of cancer.

Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.

You are a life saver... This year my New York, NY based flu shot provider called me at the last minute to tell me that they have canceled my flu shot clinics; not just my Manhattan flu clinic but my flu clinics in NJ, CT, AZ, CA, FL, GA, MA, IL, WA, TX and NV. I was amazed when my insurance broker told me that you were still booking flu shot clinics and even more amazed to find out you could deliver each of my locations with less than 1 week notice. I was afraid my employees would mutiny as the H1N1 news has everyone in a panic to get their influenza vaccinations this year.
